La Dolce Vita

I visited this restaurant after reading the positive reviews regarding the pizzas. We were shown to a table and perused the menu for vegetarian options. There are probably about 60 dishes on offer of which I marked the dishes which I could eat. This took the selection down to about 5. The waiter arrived to take our order and explained that the pizza would take a while as the chimney had just been cleaned. I felt that this was fair, and that it was good customer service. Actually, I misunderstood. The chimney had been cleaned that day and pizzas were not available ! That took the selection down to 1. The vegie burger. FMP I therefore reviewed my opinion of the customer service and I think that this should have been the first information to be shared – immediately after “bonjour”. I would have then been able to make the decision to stay, in a pizza restaurant which did not sell pizzas, or go. The vegie burger arrived. I cannot understand why, in a nation that is proud and defensive of its variety of local cheeses (more than 400 varieties listed, which are usually classified into seven categories; blah, blah, blah) that a restaurant would choose to use a square of artificially coloured, processed cheese in their meals. This restaurant actually used two such squares. I managed to scrape one of them off. The chips were hot. This was a good thing. Actually hot food in a French restaurant is rare. Unfortunately, due to the amount of oil that was on the chips on my plate, I re-experienced the chips for the rest of the afternoon. Chip-flavoured burps. Thanks for the experience.

Peaceful ambiance. Situated on pleasant shady tree-lined avenue with attractive views. Good food nicely presented. Helpful bilingual waitress.

First time eating here since moving to Gourdon. Excellent pizzas at a more than fair price. Great cocktails at great prices. Very attentive and friendly staff. We will definitely be back soon.My son had a burger and said it was great too. Nice big restaurant, the terrace must be lovely in Summer.

I reserved ahead of time but only on arrival I became aware that a band was playing on the terrace. The music was nice but way too loud for a restaurant, conversation was difficult. If I had known in advance then I would not have booked. Also they were busy and we sat at the table for 35 minutes before they even took a first order of drinks. When I asked if we could order food straight away we were told no because it was too busy and we would only get our drinks first. I have sympathy for restaurant owners during Covid time and I understand they may have been understaffed. But I was there with tired, hot teenagers and when I made a comment about the wait the owners reaction was defensive and not at all professional. In the end they did take our orders a bit sooner (so they did listen), and the food was good and prices were fair. But we did not stay for dessert.

Without a doubt the best restaurant for miles around. Amazing value for money and absolutely delicious food. Had 4 incredible meals here, and love it because it's not stuffy in any way. Also, if you're running a little late, they'll still make you welcome with no finger wagging. Our daughters have been totally charmed by the staff at every visit, and they're not the most house-trained kids! Pizza is pizza and it's excellent pizza but the burgers are in a completely different league to any other burger I've ever had. Chips fresh and hand made. Puddings are irresistable! The plat du jour is always excelelnt. The food is also properly sourced and you can see where all the meat comes from, which is a lovely touch and explains why it's so delicious. The restaurant is not pricey, but the ingredients are still of the highest quality. Bravo!!!
